"Whether you think you can, or think you
can't, you will always be right!"

Keeping An Eye On Those Vital Indicators

How healthy is your business?

Whether you're in business or not, you need to be aware of the 'vital indicators' around what you are striving to achieve. Failure to keep a watchful eye on progress could seriously damage your outcomes and even your life ...

you need a range of vital indicators to ensure the health of your business

you need a range of vital indicators to ensure the health of your business

If you were unfortunate enough to be admitted to A&E, your vital indicators would be assessed through a procedure called a 'triage'. Each of the following vital indicators would be assessed on the RAG system:

  • Pulse

  • Blood pressure

  • Respiratory rate

  • Oxygen saturations

  • Temperature

  • Pain

The RAG system rates how well your vital indicator results are:

  • Green - you are stable and can wait for treatment,

  • Amber - you are currently stable but are likely to become unstable if you wait too long,

  • Red - your condition is unstable and will die if not attended to immediately!

So what are your vital indicators and what colours are they? If they're green, all well and good and so keep doing the same and look for those marginal gains to make continuous improvements.

If they're amber you need to take action on those vital indicators that need addressing before they become red! You're also likely to have some reasonably good vital indicators which may need strengthening and improving to become really stable and productive again.

If your vital indicators are red, emergency action needs to be taken immediately or you or your business will die! Expert interventions are required to make you stable and strong enough to be able to regain full fitness.

As a performance coach, I often find that people and business owners are either too proud to ask for help, or the fear of failure paralyses them into not taking the necessary action! So, if you ever find yourself in this situation, please, please ask for qualified and expert assistance - it could save your business, or maybe even your life!

Until next time ...
